Sd card issues

Hey guys, just joined and I already need help.. Whenever I try to play music with my sd card, the carsometimes reads the card, and sometimes it doesn't.. I have the Mercedes 2gb sd card and the Mercedes adapter for the car.. What may be the cause and what could I do to make it work? Thanks in advance!

What year is your car? I had a 2011 S63 and I used a Sandisk 32GB card in my car and it worked fine.

The MB BT adapter will give you phone but no BT audio unfortunately. It's really tough in a pre facelift car to get external audio in any form. It will read MP3 from DVD though. You can put a lot of MP3 files on 6 DVDs (thousands) in the changer.

I love the car to bits, Im going to do the face-lift (exterior wise) and some other bits, but I didn't want to change the comand hardware or something like that.. Maybe if I update the command software it will be easier?

Your COMAND may already have the latest firmware. There was a TSB years ago and most dealers did the update if the car was serviced regularly at a MB dealership. But that will not get you BT audio. With your build date, you likely don't have iPod connection in the glove box either, which would have allowed you to connect an aftermarket module to stream BT audio. Mid City Engineering sells a module that hooks right into the back of COMAND and allows you to stream BT audio. I believe it's less than $500 and it stays hidden behind the dash....and allows you to scroll through your music and shows the name of the song that's playing if it shows up on your phone or other device right through COMAND. You'll have to call them for more info.

The unit MidCity sells for BT Audio integration is the MoBridge MOST interface. The 220 was the last S that used MOST. I haven't found anyone that makes an integration unit for the 221 yet, but post a link if you find one.

I s/w them last year and they said they have the module that would allow streaming of BT audio with all controls through COMAND for the early W221 chassis. They are in my area, so they would have installed it for free. I just haven't gotten around to it or know if I really need the feature.

I just called them again. Apparently what the guy told me last year was just a bit off. If you don't have the "Aux" feature in your car, they code it on and add the "Dock Boss Air Kit" to the car, which can either be hidden behind the dash or run through the glove box with an iPod cable that they include. Everything then runs through the Aux port, but controls have to all be done through your phone or other streaming BT device. Total cost to do the job with labor and parts is $300.

That makes sense. Never heard of the Dock Boss but I looked it up. Sounds like a great solution, especially if they can code the Aux in.
