Model Designation Removal and correct reinstallation
Hi all,
I have considered removing the model designation on the rear and side of my vehicle, but one of the main things that keep me from doing it is the fact that when many are reinstalled, it sticks out awful that they have been altered, indicating the vehicle has had bodywork or a respray. This is something I clearly want to avoid. When ordering these model designation letters from MB, do they come with a template to install them correctly? I would obviously want to take careful measurements and photograph those measurements before any removal, but wanted to get some thoughts from people that have dealt with this in the past. I am not sure there would be a template available for the V12 insignia on the side?

They'll come on a little piece of cardboard wrapped in plastic. No templates. It's a one shot adhesive which is why when people try to DIY them they often look misaligned.
Just buy them and take them to any decent body shop and they'll put them where they need to go. Those guys do it all day long.
