Blind Spot Assist in 2013 S550
Hello friends,
I have 2013 S550 with P2. It does have 230 Park guidance (Blue P when parallel parking is possible) but no Blind-spot-assist. Can this be retrofitted easily since I have the radars?
I am a DIY and Mod kinda guy so need to know if its feasible. I asked Steve NL the question and he has not replied yet.
thanks,
Moby

Hmmm, I dunno if that is easy to do as you will need a number replacement parts to get it done and since that is a safety feature, due to the huge liability with installing and turning this option on, in a car that did not originally have it installed and tested at MB or any manufacturer. I am thinking that no MB dealer will enable that option on for you - well at least not in the sunlight. You will need someone with a DAS/XENTRY terminal with the Developer mode to get this option enabled after you have found and installed all the components. I researched this when I had my 2010 E class and there were also fender sensors used for stability that had to be added along with the Blind-spot radar sensors in addition to the parking radar sensors. I also think you will also need to change your mirrors and the mirror modules in the doors too. It was quite complex to add on the E-class.

I am an independent shop owner and have access to DAS/Xentry. Just need to know what parts do I need to retrofit the BSA feature. I know rear radars are required and am trying to see if I already have them since I do have park guidance.

Here is another thread that discusses the topics - W204s though:

So Friends - I have read all these threads and my situation is a bit different. I have a 2013 with P2 package but for some reason - no BSA!
I bought used so I am thinking whomever ordered it originally probably deleted the BSA from their order.
My thoughts are, if I replace mirrors and door control, will I have the BSA feature? I am assuming that since I have Park Guidance - I have rear radar. If I have to install some other sort of radars the exercise becomes complex.
Easiest way to get BSA might be a 2014+ new body with BSA.
This is my first long body S - and I am still getting used to the length of car.

Even with the Mirrors and door control module replacement, I think you will need to enable the option. Yes, it would be easier to just trade this one in and get a newer one that has it alreadty to go.

Nuru, I do have access to DAS/XENTRY so coding is not an issue. I am trying to find out if the parking guidance radars are th3e same ones used for BSA. If they are same, I can try to install mirrors/door module and code to enable the BSA option.

Yes I am aware that you have access to a technician's terminal. Does the one you have access to have Dev Mode or do you have account with Mercedes so that you can get their computers to assist? Dunno whether or not the radars are the same, I kinda thought there were more than the rear radars but I am unsure.

Then you are all set, you can ask them directly how to do it. From what I have heard, those with accounts can converse with them and use their computers to assist as long as a MB DE technician you will deal with approves?
