Hi fellow MBWorld,
I have 2008 S550.
When I started the car, I got
: "Parking Brake Inoperative", and a yellow PARK triangle warning at left corner of the dashboard display.
I pushed & pulled E-brake, nothing changed.
Then, I restarted the car, it worked fine. Seems like restarting the car released the parking brake.
Can anyone advise what might be the caused? thank you much in advance for your help!

Well start to empty your wallet---you either have a switch or pb control unit failure.
You will need SDS to determine which and you will need SDS to deactivate and reactivate the parking brake system when accomplishing the repair.
If you choose not to go to a dealer, be watchful of the shops that say "Oh hell yes we can do that"

Did a Google search and saw a few used ones on Ebay.
Also there is a YouTube video that has some info.
It was cool to see the part opened up and how it works when the person put power to it.
