Steering column just stopped going in n out?

so car is back and after a week of driving a base c class I can say that i missed the car....alot!!!
so the whole column was replaced, works now thankfully! Had the car aligned after that for 200, i guess worth it. had them fix a loose mirror that i should have just done myself since they did nothing. 150.00
Forgot that i still had maint on the car!! so got the oil and windshield wipers done free and they changed the plugs too!! as a bonus. so now the cars running as good as ever.. did have a light pop up on the dash on the way home but after a restart hasnt come back so will monitor that!
