Cool Glovebox Questions

I've had some questions about the glovebox since when I first got car.

Within the glovebox of my 2012 S550:

1. I've noticed what appears to be a panel near the top. I tried gently prying at it with a screw driver, but heard a cracking noise and backed off. What is it covering?

2. Directly below it is some holder, but other than a dumb phone, I can't imagine what it's for.

And on the inside of the glovebox door:

3. Are the three left slots for credit cards or the like? They wouldn't seem to fit many.

4. I assume the two items on the right are for holding pens or a cheesy pen-style tire pressure gauge?

Deep down I'm hoping that they're all for semi-exotic MB accessories that I can then track down.

Thanks much,
MB

I do know that the round rubber knob above the 12V plug is an AC port that can be opened to direct cold air into the glove box. Curious about the other stuff though as I have the same car.

AC in the glovebox? That's nuts! Given how powerful the AC is, that would make for some pretty cold gin and tonics...

The holder mentioned in item #2 is for the splitview remote control. If you have that holder, your car should have splitview, therefore, you should have a remote control and wireless headphones somewhere.

Interesting. I bought the car CPO and the BOM didn't list Splitview on it.

Thanks,

Here is a pic of the things Larry1979 mentioned. The remote controls COMAND, Splitview and the RSE.

I had heard that for those without a factory or aftermarket fridge, that the port was used to provide AC the glove box to support keeing a perishable item cold while driving. i.e. for any item that you wanted to be very cold, say you get stuck with some raw fish from the market and you wife wanted to make sure that get it home cold, you could stick it in there - in a bag or something. Dunno how cold that area can get.

So we do have a standard fridge in the S class It should actually work very well, the ac is ice cold in this car. - it's the top knob below.

Also, if you have that remote holder, you might have split view, but it's not always enabled. optional Split View:

This turned out to be one of my favorite options and also because it comes with a remote that let's you control the whole vehicle from any seat. You can even make a phone call from the wireless remote, adjust the seats, massage, radio, ac, etc.. All from the remote.

You can ALSO add this remote with a small aftermarket module that's not expensive.
