The only thing that Jakeu/Vladamir/Borris/Borat might have working is some sort of phone mirroring device that will pop anything that is on his phone to his screen. There are plenty of vendors who sell that, including MidCity Engineering. But he certainly does not have any kind of Apple Carplay functionality through COMAND....ie listening to music from his phone to COMAND through his car speakers and having control via the COMAND knob, sending directions to COMAND, uploading maps, etc.

I just like to remind everyone that in 2008 the 1st generation iPhone was barely a year old. CarPlay was released in 2014 six years after the 2008 S Class was built. If you get CarPlay to work in a 2008 it is a testament to MB engineering.

CarPlay Box basically connects to the back of the radio, then iPhone lightning cable and microphone gets plugged in.
set the radio to AUX, btw carplay box activated AUX audio input,
press tel/nav button 2 times and you get carplay on the screen, controlled via comand idrive
P.S. carplay is not inside the radio its a piece of hardware

BTW, I love how the demo video on the ******* site is of a new E Class, which comes standard with CarPlay from the factory. Classic!

Correct. The guy in the video is Vitaliy Sokolov, the CEO and only employee of "*******". He lost his sponsorship here after we exposed him for posing as a forum admin and attempting to intimidate forum members by threatening to ban them for questioning his claims about a CarPlay retrofit. He's subsequently been chased off other boards for collecting deposits on a pre sale group buy but not delivering. He's a con man.
