Temp Sensor W221

Hello All!

I'm new to the forum and just recently purchased my first Benz 2010 S550! Having an issue with the (outside) ambient temperature sensor. Received a code P009a which indicates the sensor is faulty. I am having a difficult time locating it. Any assistance is much appreciated.

Thx! My bumper is slightly different on the 2010 550, the pic looks like a 07-09. Do you know how to access the sensor, possibly from taking the guard plate right beneath the front bumper?

correct. the front grille needs to be removed to get access to the sensor. doing so might break some of the plastic clips holding it in place- especially if they are weather-worn. also dont rough handle the the sensor as it is very fragile.

Thx! By removing the guard plate beneath the front bumper would it still be necessary to remove the front grill? Is this the main grill in the middle or the one closet to the driver side?

I have 08 and I'm not sure if it's different than 2010, but you don't need to remove the front grille on 08. The sensor is right there once you remove the front splash shield.

Temp sensor

To confirm the ambient/outside temp sensor to reach it the guard plate beneath the front bumper/grill needed to be removed. Mine had fell off and was throwing a check engine light on.
