Advice for 2007 S550 Purchase Needed

Hello Everybody

I'm looking to buy my second Mercedes. I currently have a 05 S430. I've been searching and wanted to get another opinion to make sure I don't make a bad purchase. It is a 07 S550 for 10,498 with 164,410 miles. Here is the website http://www.abmotors.com/vehicle-deta...e61732c3c9b32/

Thanks

If you budget around $10-12k per year for repairs and maintenance, you should be good to go.

Is that normal for these? I've had my S430 for over 2 years and I spent less than $5,000

Very normal for a high mileage W221. There's a lot more stuff on these cars than your S430 has.

I dunno. My grand prize winner for exorbitant repair costs was an 06 S500, at around $20k over three years. Luckily it was a CPO and I only had to eat a tranny for $6k at 103,000 miles.

My 430 was identically equipped as the 500, other than the 4.3 V8 vs the 5.0, and no heated/ventilated seats. That one faired a bit better, but it had 28k miles when I bought it and 64k when I traded it.

I was hoping the my 221 550 would be less prone to stuff failing but it was about the same. AirMatic, mounts, etc. I'd say you got very lucky with the 430, and I'm not sure I'd roll the dice on a high mileage 221 (or 220 for that matter).
