I have a 2007 base S550. Last week my abs and eps light came on. I had the mechanic check it out he said it was the alternator. After replacing the alternator the esp and abs light is still on. when i turn on the car nothing shows but as i take off and drive its coming back on and steering gets hard. Now the mechanic says the reason is the abs control module is bad. Its about a $2000 repair. That to take it to mercedes get the new part and it has to be programmed after installed. Is this true? Also has anyone else had this problem still after replacing alternator?

Sounds like it was probably not your alternator originally.

Take the car to a competent MB shop or a dealership. See what they find.
