S320 new owner - gear box issue

Morning all,

I've just bought myself a 2009 pre-facelift S320 - and absolutely love it! It was a bit of a bargain and I've just had it into a specialist for a full service and bit of TLC (needed it) and now it's an absolute dream apart from one issue.

It seems to happen mainly when cold - but under hard ish accelleration at around 3.5k-4k revs when it tries to change from 2nd to 3rd (I think - it's in comfort mode and I believe this starts the car in 2nd?) it gets a bit upset with itself.... like it comes out of gear.... keeps the revs high, then goes back into second momentarily before jerking into third.

It's hard to explain but hopefully that makes sense.

The rest of the gears shift beautifully at any speed.... and if I accellerate more gently when cold from standstill, the car shifts up perfectly at approx. 2.5k. I've evidence the gearbox oil was done at approx 40k (it's done 91k now) but nothing since then.

Any ideas what it is? I've read something about the valve throttle body etc?

Does it need sorting (is it something that gets worse and then goes bang?).... or can I learn to drive around the problem and run it like that indefinitely? I'm planning on keeping the car for a good while and getting it to well past 200k so happy to spend a bit getting it right if required!

Lovely thing though other than this and very excited to spend a bit more time in it!

Cheers all

Greg

I would begin with resetting tcu adaptations. If that does not help- remove valve body and clean valve strainers. While at it drain also torque converter for a full atf change.
