Annoying noise coming from the rear over certain bumps
Hello to all
Strange noise coming from the rear (especially rear left) over certain bumps. In the interior it sounds like something hitting on the shelf behind the rear seat, somewhere between the headrests, the rear window shade and the rear speaker. Really annoying. I removed and checked everything inside the car: the rear seat, the headrests, the shelf, the c-pillars, all the paneling in the trunk, the spare wheel, EVERYTHING, but the sound remains. I replaced the rubber mounts at both sides as they were in bad condition; but the sound remains. I put a camera near the rear left suspension to figure out the noise source but the guys in the garage aren't sure. Could it be the airmatic struts?

I have the same noise coming from the rear of my S550 that you describe except mine is on the right side. I had the sway bar and bushings replaced but it made little difference. Did you ever figure it out?
