Coolant leaking out from the back of the engine

Hi. I’m stuck. The coolant in my 2013 s550 is leaking out from the back of the engine. What could possibly that be? The vehicle is overheating after a few miles of driving. Thank you.

I would gat a pressure test on the coolant system .It will tell you if you have head gasket problems or not..

We cannot tell you Where the leak is coming from. It could be failed freeze plugs. It could be failed heater core or the surrounding piping. The car needs to be put on the lift and visually inspected. If the leak is significant enough to cause an engine overheat then it should be easy to spot.

Is this like yours ? if so the temperature sensor no 14 in diagram is fitted with a O ring type gasket .This fails and coolnt will leak or the clip holding the hose can come loose .This is the easy item that can be replaced . The other one at the rear of the engine is much harder to get at .. .I have read that the engine along
with sub fame will need removing to get at it. This might not be 100% true as some do have a work around way of doing the coolant leak.
