Safest way to Store a Keyless Go Fob?

Hey guys,

Can't seem to find a definitive answer to this, so all thoughts/help is much appreciated - my car has keyless go/entry, but how should I safely store my spare fob? With batteries or without?

I place my main key in an RFID blocking pouch when not in use to prevent relay theft.

My spare key is currently wrapped in foil for the same reason. However, it'd be a lot easier to just remove it's batteries which will be going slowly flat anyway!

So can I safely store a spare keyless fob without batteries? I imagine if I do I'll need to resynch it with the car if I want to use it. TBH I can't see any reason why I shouldn't store it this way, but knowing MB it's better safe than sorry!

TIA
QX

Take the batteries out. Sync is kept in flash and is non- volatile. If something happens just insert key in ignition to resync.

This way allows you to turn off the fob to store it without taking the battery out. It’s what I do with my extra fob.

In addition to turning fob off, as detailed above, I'm with alx, as I'd also recommend removing the battery, since there is no need to keep battery installed when the fob is off and stored, bc as we all know, when batteries are stored in electronics and not used for extended periods, they can corrode, and I wouldn't want the battery to corrode while in the fob. This is how I store my extra fob, off with battery removed.
