S600 Oil Level Sensor Reading Wrong?

Did my own oil change last weekend, drained it via the crankcase plug under the car. Filled it back up with 9.5 qts of oil (as the manual says). Get home, push the button to measure the oil... "add 1.5 qts at next stop". WTF? Nothing is leaking, I'm not burning any... So I add what I had left (0.5 qt) and yet it's STILL calling for an additional 1.5 qts. At this point I stopped pouring oil in and ordered a dipstick to see what's up. I ran a (clean) transmission fluid dipstick in there and it for sure had oil in it.

Yes, I was parked on level ground. Yes, I waited a few min after shutting it off.

Any help would be appreciated!

thanks

But all that assumes that my sensor is bad. When it was working fine 72 hrs ago. That seems a little odd it would break right when I change the oil...

Is there some way to reset or recalibrate it?

Ah ha! Ok, that makes sense. I have an actual dip stick coming, so I'll check it that way and then look to calibrate using the Scan tool thanks!
