Resetting car after battery replacement
Resetting car after battery replacement
My late father in law's 2008 W221 had been standing for two years with total dead batteries. Replaced the main battery and also all remote batteries. Did a reset from the system settings.
There are numerous silly stuff happening now
1) If you start the vehicle with push button the car goes into German language as if it was just reset
2) If you remove the push button "thingy" and start the car with any of the smart keys the car, on first attempt does not start but always starts on the second attempt. I set all the language etc settings with this key and all works fine until you lock the car. (see item 3)
3) When you try unlock the vehicle with remote it does not open the doors and I am forced to use mechanical key. After you get into the car, it all goes back to step 1 above.
Is there a better procedure I need to follow without going to to agency? This is a 2008 car and no one wants to spend agency super expensive costs on it.
Regards

Your #3 there is a symptom that the, what I call main battery in the truck, is discharged. Because the one under the hood is to start the engine and it looks like you can do that.
There's actually a 3rd battery, called the "additional Battery" and this is purely to keep the electronics and computers systems/programs alive and working if all power fails (near the driver's door). Again, it looks like that one is discharged as well and if the trunk one fails, you get back to German menus, lol.
