Windshield cracked on 2010 s550!
Was driving down the hiway last week and out of nowhere a big rock hits my windshield and now I have a 15 inch crack. Insurance company wants to send me to safelite for replacement, but Im concerned about a generic third party such as them replacing a Mercedes glass. Has anyone had to replace a windshield on their s550? If so, did you go through ta third party or have it done by a Mercedes dealer. . Safelite quoted $599 for the replacement I plan to call the local dealer soon to get a quote. I am just trying to get a feel for which direction I should take on this. I am open for any and all suggestions

I had the windshield replaced in my e550 and had a third party install Mercedes glass. As it turns out the only windshields available in my area were from the dealer anyway so, the insurance payed for the whole thing. I was nervous with the technology associated with the windshield but, it really went very smoothly and turned out perfectly. Good luck!
