I would imagine that these thicknesses are based on a NEW pad. I would like to know what the minimum allowable/recommended thickness of the pads is prior to them having to be replaced.

Yeah sure, these thickness with New pads,,

as i know; (5mm>>7mm) is the usage of the pad till sensor spot hole..

This could be irrelevant ... different models can be different, but I’ve never replaced pads on my GL without replacing the rotors at the same time.

Clearly, you don’t use old pads on new rotors, and the deciding factor for new pads according to Mercedes is most often whether there’s enough rotor life left to justify new pads. The measurement of significance, then, is most likely rotor thickness.

Thank you very much.

With that said, what is the minimum alloabale rotor thickness front and back?

I want to take my pads out and grease everything to see if I can get rid of the squeaking. While doing this, I might as well measure the thickness of pads and rotors to determine how much longer I can go without changing pads and rotors. I know I will eventually have to do it in the near future, but would like to know if I need to do it immediately or in another 2-3K miles.

PERFECT, THANK YOU VERY MUCH konigstiger.

However, please ignore my ignorance, ...................... But how do I know the model and codes applicable to my car? I checked the Datacard for my vehicle but cannot find it.

I think your Front Rotor is (335x32), the minimum thick of Front Rotor is (30mm),

and Rear Rotor is (300x12), the minimum thick of Rear Rotor is (10mm),,

but the minimum pad is OK, while not reach about (2mm) of wear sensor pot..

Remind yourself what 1mm looks like by checking a ruler, tape measure, etc.

Then feel whether your brake rotor has a discernible “lip” around the outside edge (where brake pads don’t contact).

So, if that lip is 1mm or close to it, remember there’s a duplicate lip on the other side of the rotor that you probably can’t see.

So, you’re at 2mm or close to it, which is the maximum wear permitted by Mercedes.

This is pretty easy, that is.
