This looks like an AWSOME place! I love the website and I LOVE the no nonsense style. I bet these guys are great. I wish I had them up here in Boston.

A place like that inspires confidence.

I keep looking at the pic of your car with the blue wheels. I love it. I can't stop looking at it.

I tell you that else I can't stop doing. I can't stop driving my "new to me" 2008 S550 4Matic I got last month.. I LOVE It.

This car is amazing and makes me so comfortable. I will level with you; the black color looks like it was made last week. They really do paint well over there.

By the way, I would love to get blue wheels but up in Boston, the miserable winters might hurt them.

Getting a new rim put on tomorrow to replace the bent one. Amplifier is at Becker for repair or replacement. Worst case $850.

Getting every control arm, sway bar link, engine and trans mount replaced in a week or two. Ordered all the parts from FCP and just waiting for them to come in.

Got the front CV Axles done.

Saving the transfer case for last.... I found a trans with 65K miles on it with the transfer case, so I probably will buy that and take the XFER case off. Save the tranny for later when mine dies.

At the end of this I will easily have more money in this car than it would have cost me to get one with half the miles. Sad truth. At least I will know what I have, and have a very well sorted car. Car is immaculate and rides like new when this is all done, so I dont really care.

Sounds like you got it all sorted out, which is great news.
Even a car with half the miles could possibly need some additional work done, so I agree with you, don't stress on it and enjoy it when it's all said and done.
At least you have a great piece of mind, knowing that all issues have been addressed which should give you many miles of joy.

250,000 miles are a lot but you never know. If there is nothing "wrong" with the engine, you can get another 100,00 out of it.

Even if you have some repair work to do, think of the price of that car new. Think of the vehicle you are driving. I have one I got last month for $14,000. He 124,000 on clock. With the exception of a problem I am having with my dynamic seats, that is a good deal on a great car.

Hey. Its just money. Can always make more. The car is physically cleaner than most ive seen with half the miles. I think its cool that its still running. This is my fourth car in total. If it breaks ill be alright. Its no worse than my airplane.....

Mine is a 2007 S550, 144K miles, $8,500.00
Car has a salvage title due to hail damage. No accident, no airbag deployment, Proffessionally repaired.
The way I look at it, if it would not have been reported to the insurance company and the previous owner would have had it fixed himself, the car would still have a clean title today.
Extensive service history, always maintained at the local MB Dealer.

It does not get any better than that.

Are 250,000 miles really a lot?

Keep in mind, these cars are designed and engineered in Germany, intended as a long-distance Cruiser. These cars will run on the Autobahn with no speed limit, almost hitting the red line not only occasionally, but often. This will put a lot of stress on an engine.

In the States, these cars will mostly see easy miles, easy driving, compared to what they are designed for.
In the US, these cars will most likely never see the red line, and therefore, wear and tear items such as shocks, struts, control arms and bushings, motor and transmission mounts, will fail most likely earlier than any engine components.
A properly maintained MB V8 should easily make 350K miles here in the US.

Not quite. Slow process. The amp from Becker should be here any day. Next up its going to the shop for the remaining suspension arms and engine/trans mounts. I have still been driving it every day. I am still searching for a good transfer case for this thing too.

repaired amp is here and will be installing today. Then I am sending the car off to have the remaining bad suspension components, and the engine/trans mounts done to address some shakes and vibrations this week as well.

Still looking for an X fer case.

was out of town for 2 straight weeks and my air ride suspension did sink down a decent amount. not all the way slammed, but there was almost no wheel to fender gap left... is this normal for them to sag down when they sit for long periods? It normally did not do this at all after a couple days, but this is my first time leaving it for 2 weeks.

Sorry, I do not know as I have never had my car sit this long.
