Well, not specific to summer but here in the dry desert of Arizona I've had great success with the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3. I have the AMG Sport option, so staggered 19" factory wheels and in wet (we've had a LOT of rain this month) or dry they have performed flawlessly and are still showing 50% tread after 30k miles. A bit on the pricey side ($1,200 installed locally), but worth every penny so far.

Had this tire on my W211 E-Class and it indeed is worth every penny.
As soon as the Hankook my S550 came with are done, Michelin Pilot Sports will go on, as this tire is awesome in wet as well as dry conditions.

This is. very interesting as by pure coincidence, I happen to have those tires on my S550 right now. Are you saying they are SUMMER tires?? Living in the northeast, I need to address it if that is the case. Do I need new tires for the summer or will 4Matic get me trough?

I would simply google the spec for these tires, which should tell you everything you need to know.
