Fault Code P9070 - Trunk motor

I have been experiencing strange issue with trunk closer on 2013 S550. The trunk lid can be opened or closed from both driver's side door or buttons on trunk lid. However, If I close the trunk within 30 sec of opening it, the lid goes down but the latch does not engage. If I wait 30 sec after opening without pushing any buttons, I hear a click in the latch as if it has been released again and the trunk closes normally after that by pushing either the button on driver's door or on the trunk.

I tried to mechanically activate the latch while the trunk is open with same result, i.e., the latch will not engage within 30 sec of opening, but will engage normally after the 30 sec delay. The only exception to this phenomenon is when the trunk is opened using manual key. In that case, the latch engages upon closing without having to wait the 30 sec.

iCarsoft MB v.2.0 scanner pulled codes: P9070/M14/7 (trunk cl motor) and 902C/Is6 trunk switch

I could not find whether the P9070 code refers to the faulty hydraulic pump or the motor that closes the latch. Any ideas or suggestion would be appreciated. Very puzzling. Needless to say, I would prefer solution that would not involve a dealer and thousands of dollars in troubleshooting and parts. I checked the prices on the pump assembly and it runs around $700 new.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
Regards,
Ivan

Thank you, Konigstiger,
Very helpful, as usual with all your posts. Keeping my fingers crossed that it is a simple part swap without needing to reprogram anything with STAR.
Much appreciate the quick reply.
Ivan
