DIY on ABC front accumulator replacement
I have a 2012 S63 and am getting a moaning sound around 1500 rpms. I believe that it's the ABC pulsation dampener / accumulator. Does anyone have a writeup on how to replace?

Did this today. Overall, it's an easy job on a 2012 S63. Can't speak to if it's the same for other 221 engines.
I went with the Corteco part. Looked exactly the same as OEM and only cost $127 on ebay. Worked perfect and fixed the low rpm droning sound. Car is nice and quiet now.
1) You need to remove the driver side wheel, the front part of the fender liner, and the front undertray.
2) To remove the old and tighten the new accumulator, I found it easiest to use a strap style (larger) oil filter wrench. Worked perfect.
3) I had an oil pan underneath to catch any fluid, but very little came out, a few drops.
Plan for about an hour or so.

I understand there’s an accumulator in the trunk. But Is there another accumulator in the front in addition to the pulsation damper or are they the same thing? I have an 08 s63 with abc.

Nope. Still have the groan until the system warms up. I plan to do the rear one and flush the system to see if that helps. Just haven't gotten around to it.

Did you replace the dampener? That usually is what the moan is from (if it's not the pump). And, get one of these if you have not already

I see the instructions above, but is it necessary to pull the entire pump to replace the dampener on it?

Dampener can be replaced with pump in place. Did so myself last year on my S600

Just did the ABC / power steering pump dampener this morning. It's incredibly easy. After I spent15 minutes under the car trying to find it, I realized it's right on top of the engine and very accessible.
For a 2012 S63, the PN was A 000 466 04 00 80 (the 80 just denotes a factory rebuilt part, the non rebuilt PN has no 80). Got it for $210 on ebay.
Just pull off the top engine cover and get a 17mm wrentch. Whole job takes 10 minutes.
Inital impression is that the groan is gone. But I'll hold off final judgment until I get more driving time.

A few pics:
1) Did you have all 4 tires off the ground for the job since the potential for pressure exists?
2) Did you do release any fluid using bleeder or open the reservoir cap?
Thanks in advance for your insight!
