Question on amplifier compatibility
Hey, wondering if anyone knows if an amp out of a S550 or even newer year CL550 would work for my 2007 CL550. Mine is blown so I've got no music whatsoever. The dealership told me the part number for my car is 221-870-50-89-80. I'm thinking the likelihood of finding an amp for sale from a S550 is a lot more likely but I'm not sure of their part number. Any help is appreciated.

Yes, as indicated by 221 in part #: 2007-2013 CL600/CL63/CL65/CL550/S600/S63/S65/S550 with 221-870-50-89 being current.

If you contact this place below they will repair your amp and give you a one year warranty. The reason the amps all die is cause the fan inside of them actually sucks in the brake dust from the wheel well and eventually builds up burning out the amp. I bought an used amp on ebay and this company repaired it. I dealt with Thomas Mitchell at the shop. Its like 400-500 to repair. If the amp is re-manufactured and the fan isn't corrected to push the air out instead of into the amp it will die over time. Tom, told me its a build defect in all the amps. My car when was delivered had the amp stolen by either the transport or the shady dealership in Chicago where I bought it from.

l called these guys yesterday. They’re in New Jersey. They said $700 to fix and one year warranty or $700 for a rebuilt one with your old one as core. A little too pricey.

Current part # is 2218707789 most times plug & play but note you may need STAR (MB diagnostics) to transfer data and read fault memory per attachment (N93/1).
MB only offers this part remanufactured.
Ebay offers 7789 @ $699 or best offer + shipping same pricing as Becker however, Becker offers one year warranty and should handle data (no affiliation with either): https://www.ebay.com/itm/07-09-MERCE...AAAOSwr9Bef1xj
Alternative to find cheapest price, search compatible part #s listed here:

1. when I removed the fiber optic connector, I notice the red light blinked three times from the amplifier. ( so that means it’s getting the fiber optic signal? )
2. at the wire plug connector, I noticed few rust , I tried cleaning them out with no luck.
3. the fan behind the amp is not spinning , ( I’m assuming power is not getting to the amp? Is the far supposed to be spinning while the car is on?
also, I’ve used the fiber optic loop by pass on the voice command and the Siri’s satellite box. Still no audio. I planned to send the amp to the Mercedes Benz Specialist later today but I just want to make sure that the amp is the real issue. Please, help. Let me know what you guys think. Please , see below pics .
The radio station screen is blank and no audio .
Is the fan behind suppose to be spinning while the car is on ? In my case, the fan is not spinning while everything is connected. But getting the red blinking lights.

the big amp is crazy money.
You have a guy says he can fix them in USA (regularly offers the service, hunt down some posts). Not seen anyone with success do this in Europe. I don't think its impossible... just no one shared what to fix. Probably a reflow issue on a chipset. Its becoming the standard circuit board failure. Perfect design to fail idea... as they can claim it wasn't engineered to die on purpose "somehow yours must have overheated". Like you can explain / prove exactly how you looked after something every day.... when you've never seen or knew it existed for 7 years before it broke

i agree with you 100 percent . Also, someone referred me to a guy in Florida, )Mercedes Benz Specialist), they also advertised on EBay as well that they do repairs the amps. They have lots of good reviews on eBay on their page regarding fixing the amps from previous customers. I spoke to one of the guys in Florida’s and asked me to mail it to him and I should get it back in 5 days. Also, they will let me know if it can’t be fixed . He sounded very confident and also have 6 months warranty. I will update this posted after o get it back from him. He’s charging $275.
