Really need advice buying a 2008 S450

The dealer selling the car also offers power-train warranty for extra. Should I be interested in this? How much should it cost/cover?
I'm perfectly fine spending money on the car, but I don't want to have major $4000+ problems like transmission/suspension/engine.
Does this car seem good? Are there super common serious problems? What should I ask the dealer for? What should I look out for?
Literally all and any advice or thoughts will help me make up my mind, thanks.
Right now my plan is to test drive and get it inspected pre-purchase, but I have no idea about the cars commons issues, my research isn't going very well. Thanks. I'm in Canada and I've had a 2003 c230 for 2 years before this (it just died).
