Custom rear heated seat button

So since I bought my 07 s550, I wanted to put some custom interior mods in my car. I have 2 kids and we do a lot of traveling by car. I decided on doing heated rear seats as well as custom massaging seats. I had a guy locally install the heat pads and the massage motors on the backside as well as the bottom cushions of the rear seats. It cam really fawless. Unfortunately I have a bit of a problem as the heated Seats buttons have a yellow wire coming off of the harness that illuminates the buttons so that they can be seen at night. I can’t seem to find a wire in the rear fuse panel that will allow me to have the buttons only go on when it’s night time and I have my headlights on. Anyone know where I can tap this wire off of so that the buttons will only illuminate at night instead of all the time? I added the button to see what I am talking about .

Cool idea, I'd look for the courtesy lights to tie into. Not much draw to be added.

Unfortunately, I don't know what fuse or relay controls the courtesy lights and to run a wire from the one of them would be a PITA considering the location. I am thinking of tapping off the front ashtray cigarette lighter where the outside ring lights up. The plug connected to the bottom of the cigarette light has 4 wires going into it. My friend who works on cars audio/video explained to me that the thinner wire is the one which controls ring on the ashtray. Anyone can confirm that the thin (blue wire) is responsible for lighting up the ring

Kon,

it it looks like I am going to have to run a wire for illumination for the heated seats to the front cigarette lighter. My question is this. I am not so technical so the diagram you sent me is pretty forgein to me. In simple terms which color wire is responsible for the illumination? I have attached a picture of what I got off of eBay of the wiring harness and plug that attached to the bottom of the cigarette lighter. Tell me which wire it is please. A side note is that my friend who works at a car audio place says the wire responsible for illumination is the thinner one in the picture. That wire is blue/white . Let me know what you think . Thank you

Nice job on the button install. Looks factory original.

Hello,

The cost for the mod as was $180 for the massage motors for 2 sets of 8. Then the cost of the heated kits for 2 sets for $150. Then I paid a guy $ 350 to do the install. I will be honest the install you can do yourself as the removal of the back seat can be done in 10 mins. The leather covers come off pretty easy from the cushions and then its just a matter of making 4 holes for the backseat part and the bottom cushion another 4 holes for the massage motors. I think you could do this whole mod in under 4 hours. I mounted the heated seats button on the b-pillar and the buttons for the massage inside the rear console compartment. Though it was a big an expensive mod I believe it definitely enhances the enjoyment of the car. I am thinking of doing the front seats as well. The massage buttons are not factory looking so they will need to be hidden in my opinion so they don't stick out like a sore thumb.

I am very curious where you had this work done. I inquired about doing this last year on my car. The 2 shops I went to pretty much laughed me out the door, so I gave up on it. I am not even looking for the massage feature. Of course if it can all be done I would love to do it. I live in Staten Island and would make the trip to NJ. Please PM me with details, price estimated price, parts needed etc...
