To 22 or not to 22

Hello I'm now looking to replace my standard 19 OEM AMG wheels and tires with a 22 inch package for spring and summer. Has anyone had good success with a particular brand/style of wheel. I want something to keep the class of the vehicle, with more aggressive stance. My real question is should I go staggered or not, I have a 4matich with 255 40 19's all the way around. Any help or suggestions I will gladly appreciate.

22" way way too big. You will get bubble in tire super easy, 20" or 21" MAX.

Ok thanks, I put a set of OEM 20's on that a friend had and didn't see much difference. I will give a look into the 21's.

That's cause you can't do OEM 20's. Mine are aftermarket with offsets that push the wheels out to the fender! Huge huge difference. I can get you a set if you want. Call or text 717-319-2100

In my opinion... During your normal drives, do you hit pot holes? Do you go up and out of driveway hard? do you feel that the 20's already too harsh? If Yes on at lease 1 or 2 question., stay with 20's
22's are purely for looks. and you will eventually lower the car with 22's to maximize that look.

Also 21's are kind of an oddball size. Tire and wheel choices are somewhat limited. If you ask me, 21 is not much of a difference from 20 looks wise. You get the biggest change by lowering and going 22's. My CL is on 22's and I have no issues with ride comfort, at least on ABC. As far as potholes are concerned, the majority of them in my area would take out any wheel over 18 inches if you hit them hard enough...so yeah, you have to pay attention, just like with any other car/wheel...or drive your car in summer, after they fix all the winter damage.

And if you h ave ABC you are in the 5% of people that have it. ABC is a game changer and you could run 24's, lol. I don't recommend 22's without ABC. Also, visually the tire looks way too small.

This is not my daily driver, I drive the car on weekends and on nice nights out. I'm looking at a couple of wheels Niche DFS M221 machine finished and Niche Milan in machine tinted. I'm not sure how each will look I don't want a dark wheel per se since the car is black. Here are the DFS M221, don't have a good look of the tinted Milan's to compare.

In the San Francisco Bay Area, I had to replace my 20" OEM AMG twice because of cracks due to road conditions.
I have since switched to 18" for better ride and hopefully less replacements.
Mandrus (owned by TSW) is a good after market brand because they specifically target Mercedes so the offset and fitting is thoughtful.
Also the OEM wheel caps just fit and transfer over.

the problm w the 221 is very few aftermkt wheels look good on the car. Its very easy to make the car look shi tty w some crap wheels. Heres mine lowered on 20" s63 split spokes w a machine face and charcoal inserts.

Do you miss that car or has the W222 made you completely forget about it?

I have 22 inch wheel on my w221 and the car is lowered by 1.75 inch, minor rubbing under freeway speed when you hit a uneven surface.
These pictures took before I replace with another set of 22 inch wheel so if anyone interesting these rim on the pictures, pm me.

The W221 will go down as one of the sexiest Designs Mercedes-Benz ever produced.

I finally decided on a rim and tire package. I selected a set of Asanti Black Label ABL-13 in brushed silver. With 245/30/22 and 265/25/22, I will post some pics once I get them mounted. I'm undecided if I'm going to lower it yet, have to wait and see on the look and ride to see. I appreciate all the help and suggestions.

Got rims yesterday not happy with look of rear rims. The 265/30/22 setup looks off. I was told that reason for 265 on the rear was to keep outer diameter of tire same as or close to stock. But when did the math on tiresize.com comparison the numbers are not even 245/30/22 has diameter of 27.8 and revs per mile of 726. Rear 265/30/22 has diameter of 28.3 and revs per mile of 714. Also with these numbers my speedometer is not accurate. With the look off and the numbers different am I looking at this wrong. Any help would be appreciated. I’m going back to get this figured out. With a 295/25/22 rear tire all the numbers equal out and my speedometer is also true to speed. I also added a pic of front rims which tires are flush compared to rears which tires sit back off rim

Ok got rims and tires sorted out. Does anyone have option for better lug bolts the ones I got from the shop don't look to be of good quality. I have 14 x 1.5 x 28mm, they are the 6 sided/acorn style bolts. I've already stripped the original key taking them off by hand to do my brakes and I'm scared the bolts will strip soon. I'm getting another hardened key from shop and just be sure ordered another one off Amazon. Any suggestions I would appreciate it.
