Can’t get oil filter off 1992 SL 500
We recently acquired a SL 500 1992, from my dad, and it has not been used or driven in a few years. Needless to say, it has been neglected. We took it in for an oil change and they could not get the oil filter off. This was not a quick lube place it was our regular mechanic that we’ve used for 30 years. They did change the oil but left the filter in place. Any ideas on how to get that filter off short of breaking things?

I had a filter that I had a devil of a time getting off. I think I tried driving a screw driver through it when that didn't work I eventually bought and used a large curved vice grip on it.

Good point mine was for an Audi with a spin on filter.
