Parktronic sensor, both front and back

Does anyone knows why my parking sensor doesnt work. Both front and back. 08 S550

The P switch button on the dash stays on Red all the time.
If I press it, it doesn't respond or turn off.

There are several sensors in the bumper and for the early W221s like yours and mine they are actually covered by the bumpers, not like the kind you see on many cars today. There are 4 in the front bumper alone along with the distronic sensor behind the grille. So really you'll need to get your car scanned with a decent code reader to find out which one is misbehaving. That red P switch light is there to remind you they are not working, just like the yellow 'no one is in your passenger seat, so that airbag is turned off' button.

What he said. A good M-B specific scanner should tell you which radar sensor is bad. Mine was calling out the right inner front sensor, I replaced that and everything worked again.

Also -- are there ANY other lights or fault indicators on?

Distronic Plus is the adaptive cruise control. Assyst Plus is the service reminder system. Only the cruise control uses any of the sensors.
