Upgrading steering wheel buttons

So I already upgraded my steering wheel to the Amg s63 which has the shift paddles. Unfortnately I don't like the steeringwheel buttons. For me they looked dated. I know the car is an 07 but I have done enough upgrades to not make it look that old. So my question is simple. I bought steeringwheel buttons from a 2010-2013. I am wondering if this mod is a simple plug & play. I have posted a picture of the steering wheel that is in my car and also a picture of the buttons I bought. I would guess they all line up correctly. The only issue would be the plugs. Let me know what you guys think, Its not a huge mod but it

y changes the look for me

Compare the position of the buttons on the steering wheel to the new assemblies you have. Do they look like they will line up? They don't look like it to me. The spacing on the small buttons looks quite a bit different.

Right up until the old ones turn into a gooey mess. After that they don't look so great.

That’s extremely easy to fix. Nothing some rubbing alcohol won’t take care of. Mine look brand new after properly cleaning them.

Mega,

what type of towel did you use with the rubbing alcohol to clean the buttons?

It depends on how bad they are...or old. You might get lucky with some rubbing alcohol and a microfiber towel. Mine weren't bad but I wanted to remove the coating. I used some acetone/microfiber towel on parts of them and rubbing alcohol/brillo pad on others. You obviously have to take them apart for this to work. You also need to be extremely careful with the acetone if you decide to use that. It can melt through the plastic very quickly.

Why didn't I just replace them? Because the same thing would happen to the new ones fairly quickly. Whoever came up with this soft touch coating BS wasn't a very smart man. Anyway the result was that they look brand new.
