Please help me analyze this deal. 2010 S550 Non-Turbo with 81K miles asking $17,900. Private party is the 2nd owner. According to him, all maintenance done by a friend of his who works at the Mercedes dealer. I asked if we can take it to the dealer for a PPI and he is OK with this. I like this deal despite being in Washington DC. I'm in NYC but don't mind the fetching. What is a fair price given the mileage and the overall condition of the car?

No distronic (or at least I couldn't see it) and no nightvision. I would really be upset driving 221 without these features. When I bought mine 8 years ago, it was real priority for me, and still is. Glad was stubborn at the time.

Well the good news is he never tried or saw it, so he doesn't know what he's missing. Most cars DO NOT have those options.
Have them FIX that center armrest. I can't stand that on these cars. Mine is still good, that guy must have been very BIG.
I am no expert but that car looks REALLY nice. One year ago, I picked up the exact same car of the 08 modal year with 124,941 on the odometer. One year later, it is perfect and I am very happy.
I paid $14,500 and the trade of a 2002 E430 that was falling apart with rust, needed brakes all around and 2 different sensors with 134,500 mies on it. My thinking is if you can get it for $16,000 or so after a very through inspection, that seems fair. On the other hand, if you go for to list to see the car and happen to have $14,000 cash in your pocket, the seller might just jump at making a deal. As for no night vision, well, I for one, can't seem to see the point of it but once again, that might be my utter lack of sophistication. Good luck my friend.
Also, interested in how long the person has owned the car and where it's from. We don't have registration stickers in the window (lower drivers side) so curious.
Also, one red flag (at least to me) is the front bumper is discolored. If you look close in the pics, you can see it's shiny and then gets faded and also goes on to the tip of the fender, like it was resprayed bad or something? Maybe I am just looking way too close but I've bought 3 S's online all over 1000 miles away so I examine the pics thoroughly before I spend the time to fly to buy it.
I thought it was the sun glare or shade at first but from different angles it shows the same faded look.
Not saying this is a bad car, just noticed that it looked off in these areas.
WHPH28, thanks for your observation. Spot on. I've decided to pass on this car and wait until something pops closer to home. There's so much wealth in New York, NJersey and Connecticut that something is bound to appear. I'll just sit patiently and wait.
Also, in some metropolitan areas, people end up scratching their bumpers while parking. If this was repainted due to scratches, I could live with it and just have a local shop repaint it. But like I said, I'm holding for something closer to home.

I see several on cargurus in the northern NJ area....you should definitely be able to find something. There was one in black with around 45k on it that was 18ish. Plenty of S550's out there....good luck in your search.
