I have a 2013 S550. One of the ambient lighting strips under the wood door trim has stopped working, but only in the blue color. All other colors work on all doors. When I change the color to the blue, one of the rear door lights does not work. All other door lights and dash lights work fine. Just one door panel with the blue color does not. Changing to another color, the light comes on. I had the Mercedes dealer check it out when I had the car in for service and they quoted me $915 for an ambient door light strip. Does anyone know anything about the ambient door light strip? Are they part of the entire wood trim? Can the strip be replaced without the wood trim? I am guessing the light strip has all the colors and that you can't just replace the color that is out. I would like to know if anyone else has had a similar problem. Thanks

 

the light strip is 1 led housing on the end of the door feeding a light tube. find door wiring harness for your car and change it out. ebay is a good source. ( i had to do the same) make sure you know what your looking for. its an black oblong housing with 3 leds in it. it has a circular hole the the tube goes into.

 

Thank you for your reply. I was googling it last night trying to find a part number or something to go by. I did find wood trim on E-bay that says it has the ambient light tube with it. So you say the tube can be bought as a separate piece? I will check E-bay again. You don't happen to know the part number or have a photo of the tube do you? Thank you again.

 

You don't need tube you need wiring harness with the led litting on it. I will look up part number

look for part # a2215408507 on auction web site. it will have the piece you need to change out. about $30 bucks.

 

13 s550 EPC shows front left & right door harness as # 2214408905. Post or PM VIN for confirmation.

 

I might have posted rear door sorry. But the light ends are the same.
