W221 non OE air strut

My S-class has an issue with one of the front air struts and I am looking into replacement options. I am aware of the ones offered by Arnott. I was wondering whether any of you has tried the cheaper ones on eBay or Amazon. eBay has them starting at $130/ea. This seems like a good deal compared to $450+ for Arnott. A couple of months ago I got a non-OEM intake manifold from eBay and it has worked fine.

im also curious about the ebay Airmatic springs for the 221/216. There is a company called detroit axle that has been around for a pretty long time selling a nice looking set for $860, i mention this seller specifically because ive heard conflicting reviews about the company. some say they are exceptional products for a great price..other reviews say they are the worst. i would hate to have to do this job twice..anyone have any experience?

Not familiar with all S/CL class offerings, but fitted Bilstein struts to my GL. A reputable brand that is likely OEM.

I'm afraid you will not find many "chinesium" fans around here, at least for important pieces.

I wouldn't roll the dice on parts like air struts. OEM or Arnott. Bilstein has a good reputation in the market, but I don't know anything about their mercedes products. The downside cost is higher than what you could save on junk.

I had a similar issue in the past. Went with RMT and I got a very reasonable core deposit back once I sent in my broken ones. Also In case you didn't know you are supposed to replace both at the same time whether its front or rear. Just in case, since I didn't know that when doing mine. Good luck!
