2008 S550 - no start, no crank, good batteries

2008 S550 - no start, no crank, good batteries
I have had the car 3 months, wife loves it. I had the oil changed and reset service light. Next day, after multiple errands, the car will not start. Both batteries are good. Had it towed to a shop. No codes are set. When connected to diagnostic scanner, there is no indication of a crank request signal. It shows the key going to the run position, but not to crank. Tested for power at the starter, no power. I highly doubt the problem is related to the oil change. And I have tried both of the factory keys. Still no crank.
I am now at a loss where to check next. ( trying to avoid the 60 mile tow and expense of the dealership)
I am crew chief on an NHRA Drag race team, and can do everything on a 2300hp race motor, but am new to the Mercedes.

check your 30a fuel pump fuse at the rear seat fuse box. If blown, replace it.
