Best Solution for adding Aux/Streaming Bluetooth to Cars WITHOUT RCA or iPod???

So I've been searching for countless hours and cannot come to a proper conclusion here.

I've ordered the iPod interface, told that the cable for it is impossible to get.

I've been told to look for the RCA jacks in my glove compartment; not there.

I've been told I can burn MP3s to CDs; c'mon now!

Anyway what is the BEST and most cost effective solution here? someone must have an idea what it takes to get an AUX input or RCA input installed in an 07 S-Class without spending $1000+ on some crazy aftermarket solution. Any ideas???

Thanks.

You can also just insert a PCMCIA adapter card with a 32gig compact flash card full of music into the slot just under where the discs go. Tons of music at your finger tips, cost is only for the PCMCIA adapter and the 32 gig compact flash card.

^Yup, that's it. As far as getting aux in, Smartphone integration or BT audio, it's almost impossible regardless of price.

How about a PCMCIA bluetooth adapter? Does that work?

I don't think so. The cars slot is looking for a mass storage device, not a BT audio receiver.

What really sucks is that there IS an aftermarket BT adapter for 2004-2006 S Class (MoBridge Bluetooth) but nothing for 07-09.

Please expand on this if you don't mind? If I install one of these cheap generic aux cables into the harness (the ones I've seen on eBay) and then get the Aux enabled using a star system, or at the dealer, it should "just work?" Thanks!

I don't have an iPhone, all of my music is in MP3 or WMA format which is playable from the PCMCIA slot. With a 32 gig card half full I have a pretty extensive collection of music, I also have a full Sirius subscription that came with the car (music quality sucks, but that's a whole other thing). I looked at the options of adding Aux, iPod, etc and decided it really wasn't worth it for amount of time and money that needed to be spent. I can see trying to implement this if you're into streaming services which I am not or if your music is tied to the Apple system which mines is not and so there isn't sufficient benefit to me for doing this work.

I have a W220 and was looking to add the Satellite radio to it but decided not to and I'm glad I didn't, because for music it leaves a lot to be desired. In the end it wasn't worth the time and money to do the retrofit. I'm fine with MP3 DVD's on that car.

2005 S430
Hi everyone
New to the forum and I enjoy all the help that other members offer to each other.
I too have been facing the same dilemma with adding an Ipod to my S430. Unfortunately nothing simple is offered for the 2005 model. Couple companies out there , sure they offer interphases upwards of 600 dollars.
I do not know about most of you, but I surely think that this is outrageous.
So after countless disappointing searches for a few days, I thought to myself, what if I could change the head unit?
To my disbelief , I found the most elegant units for as low as 275 dollars. Exact replacement of the existing command center, perfect match, including the wood panels .
These units are loaded with features including bluetooth, Ipod connections, phone connections navigation internet, you name it and all necessary connections to replace the command center.
So I am getting one as soon as I decide if I like the quad core, or octa core unit..
I found them in Alibaba.com .
I felt that I owed to pass this info to anyone that felt the same frustration with the lame radio stations and commercials as I did..
I figured for a fraction of what they charge for an aux ,or Ipod interphase, I can have something way better than what was offered back in 2005..
And also everything is controlled through the steering wheel...

We're talking about W221's not W220's. For the W220 that command replacement requires a lot of work and you may not be able to use the existing amplifier.

I know that we must do the proper things for our "machines" and keep them within reason of what is expected from a MB product, but take a look at this aftermarket product and upon setting the MB, or AMG logo onto the screen, if you can detect that it is indeed an aftermarket product...
Sorry but I like to also think outside the box and in this particular case, even MB would agree with this..
Here is the link guys of what I am getting, so you don't have to search for a long time..

For a huge operation that serves over 100k customers a year, this chode smoking NavFool clown certainly has a lot of time on his hands to keep making up user names and trolling around the forums.

Dear Phil..
I merely pointed the direction of where(key word) someone would be able to accomplish what is in question and request,
I posted a link of "my" command unit, but if you were to navigate through the site, you would find that all series are available and a direct plug and play without any programming needed.
They offer quite an extensive detailed information of their product and how to's

The unit you linked to is not compatible with a W221. Try the W220 forum.

2006 s320l cdi
I have a 2006 W221 s320cdi, it has no audio connections at all in the glovebox, no ipod and no 3.5mm jack. If I buy one if these Bluetooth to Aux kits that are available online that plug into the back of the command and claim to be able to play bluetooth from my phone will it work? It seems like a fairly simple solution but I've seen people saying it won't work. I've attached screenshot below showing the Unit I found online, I've tried emailing the seller to see if this works or needs any other coding but he won't reply. There are much cheaper versions fo this unit sold on ebay too which look the same. Does anybody have experience with this sort of thing?

Thanks!

I don't have any actual experience with that or the similar products, but I plan to order one. What I **think** is that you will need to have the AUX feature enabled for your COMAND system. I was able to do this with DAS and a Tactrix passthrough device, which is way cheaper than the C4 device and seems to work quite well for everything I have tried. I have used it for clearing codes, running diagnostics, various actuations, all kinds fo things with no problem. Anyway, it took only a few minutes to enable AUX on my COMAND, so it shows up as an input selection even though there's nothing there. My next step, now that the car is in the garage for the winter, is to order one of those BT devices and hook it up.

Thanks for the reply DaleB, I will look into activating the Aux the way you have explained. If you remember, can you please update on this thread whether or not this worked for you when your order arrives. If it does I will be really happy as this is the only thing that is letting the car down for me at the moment haha! I don't mind spending money to make it work, just seems from my previous research, I can't find anyone who has successfully managed to make these kits work.

I checked and looks like my aux is not activated with my command system. Can anyone recommend somewhere northwest UK, Merseyside area that can activate this or will I have to go to main dealer?

Thanks
