Keep or sell
We inherited a 2007 S550 rear wheel drive car from my dad 1 1/2 years ago. It only had 23,000 miles on it in sightand it now has 30,000. We have had issue after issue, etc. We recently had a transmission issue, we were told the brains of the transmission needed to be replace, it was 3,000. Then the little yellow engine light has been coming on, which we tightened the gas cap, and it went off, and is now on again. It’s been diagnosed as an electrical problem, and they will have to do more checking to get a better idea of where exactly the electrical issue is. It has an oil leak, which is why we took it in again, and it is the oil separator cover. My dad bought it in 2008 with only 19,000 miles, so over the course of 11 years he only put 4,000 miles on it. So what I’m wondering is because it hasn’t been driven/taken care of, I assume that is why we are having so many issues. I’m guessing several things have dried out. We are not car people at all, and so don’t have the means to fix things ourselves. Is this car worth keeping, or should we let it go and sell it. It is very clean, rides nice and in otherwise good shape. Thanks for any ideas/suggestions/insight you all may have. If you do think it’s worth hanging onto, do you have any suggestions on what we might do to be proactive? Appreciate your help.
