Dynamic Seats issue

What is supposed to happen when Dynamic Seat mode is turned on? Currently , I only feel the right hand back air pocket inflating when I turn left . That's all!
All of the air pockets in the seat will inflate using manual controls.
Can anyone please explain exactly what is supposed to happen, and what might be the problem?
Any advice gratefully received

both sides of the seat should do the same on left and right hand bends - the feature is slow and clunky its just a gimmick... and will wear out the pump, switch it off and forget it. Its more irritating than functional just like night vision

it you have disctronic plus that option comes with BAS Plus another feature that can get the seats to blow up the cushions, move the seats position, shut the windows, shut the sunroof and ****** the seatbelts pulling you back in the hair... quite interesting for your passengers if you get that to cut in

there are software updates for the back rest and the modules die as well

The left hand should inflate when you turn right as you have experienced on the other side.
I found on mine when I had the bladders already inflated "too much" I did not feel them inflate more when turning.
Lower your bladder setting to zero and retry with dynamic seat turned all the way up. See if you notice a difference.

Thanks for that. I have Distronic Plus. I try the other function that you mentioned. Do I need to adjust the seat? or is this part of the function. What do I do, and what happens.
I might as well try the gimmicks before I forget about them.I don't use Distronic much. Just as a cruise control.

you have to drive like a maniac to get this feature to cut in...

when the radar can see another vehicle traveling much slower than you (not on cruise, just its had enough time to work it out what's happening - stationary ones easiest where you can head toward but them but steer away once the feature is active) make sure nothing is behind you.... whilst accelerating closely toward the other car that's much slower - get off the throttle fast as you can and jump to the brake pedal. The car will recognise the danger and so long as you are making some effort to slow down.... the car will take over stand on the brakes full on abs - it will blow up the seat cushions, move the seats position, shut the windows, shut the sunroof and ****** the seatbelts pulling you back in the chair... (so long as u have the brake light showing it will go full crash safety mode trying to prepare for a big one) .

My recco is not to do with a passenger they get funny about it

if it doesn't do it
1) to slow to get off the throttle and on the brakes
2) the radar never saw the other car
3) driving too gently

as soon as you come off the brakes it will chill out and after a few seconds let go of the seat belt and dump excess air in the cushions back to where you had it

I'll give it a go. Sounds like fun!

The W221 dynamic seats are prone to issues. And there are 2 versions of the control modules - early is 2007-2009, later is 2010+

The issue you describe, where you get inflation in one turn direction, but not the other, could be in order of likelihood:
  • broken air line to bladder
  • split seam on bladder
  • bad solenoid valve to inflate/deflate bladder
  • bad software in dynamic module
  • bad module in seat back
If you can get the bladder(s) to inflate manually, then the first 3 are eliminated from the potential list.
Search for some posts I've made for repairs on the 'early' modules.
