Adding aux input to 2007 W221

I'm getting driven mad trying to be clear what is required to obtain a simple aux in. I know the vehicle needs programmed to enable it's "aux" functionality.

My query is: What needs to be connected behind the COMAND unit, is it just a simple ebay harness OR do you have to insert cables/pins into vacant slots on the harness plug?

Lots on ebay like this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/184934574...kAAOSw0sVe84QJ

If it is inserting pins into vacant slots on the the harness plug I cant find the relevant information at all easily. This was the closest showing which pins appear to be analog signal related

The second link you posted is correct. That’s how all the Android headunit we’re using connect to the back of the Comand (NTG3) unit. You’re seeing different things because these cars came with different equipment, so there will be multiple options based on which version you have and the equipment that came with the car.

Thanks. My VIN just says car has 527 COMAND DVD APS WITH NAVIGATION. How do you know if you have NTG3, is it the most common system?

So if it's a case of clipping in missing pin inputs (Say for example I want a female 3.5mm jack socket in my glovebox) would you buy the connector pins from MB to slot wring into pin 5 and 15 LEFT and RIGHT, and 6 OR 16 for shielding?

I have tried hard this morning to find this info but it's not proved very easy to be clear about.

It's based on the year of your car. Some cars have a slightly updated headunit with minor wiring modifications. The second part of your statement is correct. The official diagram says 6 for audio ground, but 16 is a ground as well. Some of these pins may already be connected, so double check. Forgot to mention - the pins may or may not be available so you may need to get creative, like getting a used harness/connector and using pins from that.
