Unhappy W221 ABC Problem

Hi,

I am having problems with the ABC suspension of my W221.

The suspension of the car is very stiff.
I feel every bump in the road.

I don't get any error messages on the screen

Accumulator at the rear has been replaced.
but this still didn't help.

Decided to do the rodeo test to see if we could find anything.

* No error messages even during the rodeo test

* Pump gives constant pressure of 190 bar

The only thing we could find is that there is 90 bar pressure on 3 struts and 60 bar on the right rear strut

But system does not leak oil.
could it be a sensor or could it be in the strut or valve block?
Does anyone have experience with this?

sorry for my bad english i'm from the netherlands

greetings carlo

Typical cause of stiffness is accumulator failure, so I would replace ALL accumulators first. Those should be replaced periodically anyway. If the problem still persists, it could be a valve block or something else. Also try to determine if the stiffness is more front or back and if the height is normal or too low or too high front or back - this could help with narrowing down the problem area. Good luck!

Please help us understand more about your situation. Kms? Have you or prior owners flushed and ABC filter changed? Other abc issues previously? I have sl550 with ABC and service it , my s550 has air matic? Typically rodeo without fluid and filters change can lead to issues you sighted.

Hi George,

I was looking for to resolve the problem and not wan’t to do things that not resolve my problems
but the rear accumulator is replaced and the fluid is replaced ( filter i don’t know)

after that we done the rodeo test
everything seems to look fine but 1 strut is on 60 bar and the other 3 at 90

so i think it could be in the strut or valve block
but also that does look strange to me because the car doesn’t leak oil on the outside

And the strut holds 60 bar so that seems to be fine too if he was bad then no pressure at all i think

and there are no warnings car is also not coming down at 1 side

Hi MBCO,

150.000
recently new abc oil (filter i dont know))
Nothing before i think

when i bought the car everthing was ok.

only the rear accumulator has been changed and new ABC fluid (filter i don’t know…)

But the trouble is before rodeo….

in rodeo everything looks fine
no errors
pump 190 bar constant

only thing we could see was that 1 strut is on 60 bar and the other 3 on 90 so i think we must look for this to solve the problem

accumulators on the front and at the pump i will replace to
