Hello guys, I'm new to the forum and I'll be glad if I can find help here. I'm happy owner of Mercedes W221 S550 2007 4matic and from a few days I own wheels from W222, but today I heard that they can break my car, because the size of the front and the rear wheels are different and my car is 4matic. Is it true and should I be aware of it? This is the information about the wheels:
2 x front: 5x112, 8.5J x 20 ET38 (Mercedes part no. A2224010400), Tires: 245/40 R20
2 x rear: 5x112, 9.5J x 20 ET38 (Mercedes part no. A2224010500), Tires: 275/35 R20

Thank you in advance and sorry for my English
@mikekerr is correct. They always warned you not to use staggered on a 4Matic but that all changed with the W222, since it is the first S-Class that offered staggered on a 4Matic. Therefore if Mercedes offered it, I assume it is safe. Also the W222 uses the same gearbox, differential etc as the W221.Rule of thumb is, as long as the front vs rear OD is the same or below 2% that is considered safe. Now as far as your question goes, those wheel and tire sizes that you have are exactly what Mercedes offered on their W222 4Matic so in my opinion you are safe and not braking the car!
I do have a question for you though. How much of a difference ride/comfort was there jumping from the 19's to the 20's? Assuming you upgraded from 19's
PS: The only thing to remember here is that you will not be able to rotate the wheels/tires if that is a concern.
I'm coming from 18's and I intended to use them in the winter but we will see after I decide what to do with current ones. Regarding the comfort - there is a small difference, of course it's harder but I like how it goes, it's still comfortable and if these 20's are fine for this car, I will leave them I don't have many pics of it, since I got the rims 3 days ago, but will post some, not the best quality, just to see them. I also used a calculator to see the differences between the rims, tires and so on and the difference between the overall diameter is 701mm vs 704mm. I really want to leave these wheels if there is no problem

Beautiful! Has the car been lowered? I personally am more concerned with the ride quality lol
Do a search if you like. Staggered wheels on a s550 4matic. Plenty of info on other forums as well..

I think the previous owner mentioned that he had lowered it a bit, because he liked it more like this, so I haven't touched it The ride quality is not like the 18's of course but the car is completely different with those 20's, so for me is just fine
I have a 2016 S550 4Matic with 245/45/19 Front and 275/40/19 Rear. Can i run 265/40/19 in the front to match height "40" in rear, or will that tire be too wide for the 8x5 front wheel and will it cause tranny or differential issues? Hate looking at the taller size tire up front!!!!!
