In carTerminology can someone explain what (offset) means?
and what the cause and remedy?

Try turning steering wheel from lock to lock couple of times to reset angle sensor if this fails, sensor may need replacement. Have you continued on to F3?

Yes I did every possible way (I know) to reset SAS.
- scan tool special function.
- lock to lock like after getting car to dyno mode.

It was 1.6 before alignment then jumped to 3.5 and re alignment again gave me this. However, specs of alignment are all green and the car not (noticibly) pulling to any side.
is there any way to extract sas and clean/adjust it or I am getting another sensor.

Thank you for Pdfs.

if you check back I posted something about a correction that my snap on diagnostic scanner claims to do (NOTE: I had them round my house collecting info as they are not supporting all stuff on the 221 yet - and they only give you what the manu tools do)

before I found and changed this, I believed (and still do) that the clock spring giving the steering angle to the ESP unit was pre set - you buy one, fit it right without moving from factory set up and that's it....
so I suspect what I found was NOT this clock spring setting but something else.... I believe it changes a setting in the Rear SAM (which by the way does do something to the disctronic plus active cruise control). I swapped the R SAM and this setting was incorrect again. I thought the effect of resetting was nothing at all, but between the SAM changes the car was back to wandering on motorways, and this wander appears to be reduced sustainably, once this is zeroed

I moved my car to flat level road. Obd scan:
offset was 0.46
but I noticed weird errors like rear SAM terminal 30 is undervoltage. I remember there is some corrosion on the front battery plug.

I will clean them then re scan. although there is internal fault in Abs esp upon scanning, the car drives fine.

ABS wheel sensors go wrong at 10 years
ABS modules can go wrong
Low voltage will give errors everywhere... early car's pre 2008 have a 25kg battery in the boot - a brand new fully charged one can keep the car at a healthy voltage for 30 mins max (without the engine running), with another under the bonnet to start the car

update:
I cleaned battery plugs with sand paper. There was no wd40 around me but found brake fluid
I dipped my finger and apply around the terminals. Got them tight and Drove for one week. Scanned twice, No more terminal errors.
