Unhappy I need your opinion

Hello,

Without any noticed issue, the COMAND screen in my S300 2012 model got black. It is totally off.
Also, some related functions are off. These are the radio, Bluetooth, rear camera, rear blind sunshade, rear sensor alarm and its marks on the dashboard.

I visited a workshop and after a quick fuses check, they said I need to replace the control panel CD Changer GPS radio.
Any idea please? Thanks.

the screen is just a screen, if dead you should still hear the radio, but....beneath the heater buttons is a comand unit, these have a particularly fragile hard drive in the later cars with the NTG3.5 system

Its quite likely it has died.... a dealer will want > $2k , you could by a hard drive this size for $30 but getting an exact copy of the software is an issue. People can help but expect they are doing you a big a favour at $200 even so the current features as per factory build for your can will likely be yet another visit to a guru with Merc kit and some experience...

anyone with NTG3.5 should remove and back up the contents for the hard drive and probably fit a different drive back in their car (they are that fragile)

There is a button to turn on/off the screen. Have tried it?

Hello Dhaif,
Yes off course. For sure it is not the screen since the back sensor is not working, the rear shade also, and a few other functions. Thanks.

How would you backup the hard drive? It’s a good suggestion. I have accumulated lots of last destination addresses on my system.

pull the drive and using some copy software back it up... of course that's easy to say, possibly a bit harder to manage... lots of car stuff works on Linux, so it deliberately doesn't play ball with windows PCs. I'm sure a search will get you the info
the NTG3.5 I think comes out the front without much difficulty.... (makes sure the car systems are powered down / asleep), specialists might be the go to place to help set you up with a reliable drive before death !
