Odd parking brake issue
The other of note element the Parking brake mechanism has a software time to death counter built in after XXXXXXXX uses turn off and throw an error code... naughty people can say to the software start again, and it works perfectly well... they get away with it as it a safety related component and they say its now worn enough that we believe its dangerous...
doesn't quite compute for two reasons
1) its only to help protect the gearbox when you park on a hill
2) the very same type of software time to death counter on the E class with the hideous SBC brakes servo idea, got an software extension of another 300,000 brake presses before death inline with a class action lawsuit
I was getting an extra bong first, but everything seemed to work. Then sometimes the park brake was off, when I'd put it on. Then it wouldn't come off automatically... about 4 month in the ESP / ABS would come and go.... 6 months in ESP ABS is permanently lit - new sensors all back to normal. In the UK 6 owners all had the same symptoms and fix within 3 months... then here the happy clappie brigade all dismissed it, till one by one they all leant through personal experience
