What is this?
Just purchased a 2011 S550. There is recessed LED in the headliner, rear passenger area - what is it's purpose? It does not provide any significant light to the rear seat. Difficult to take a picture so I've attached an uninstalled picture of a similar headliner with the item in question circled. Thanks!!

I think it's the ambient light that will gently shine on the armrest/cup holders area when the armrest is down if I recall.

I turned around briefly while driving last night and I don't think I have that light. I don't have the rear seat package.

Non MBUSA market interior alarm sensor would be mounted here. You say there is an LED installed post VIN, long shot but I’ll check EPC.

Here are photos from my 2013 S550 with the panorama roof. It has the LED in question and it shines down directly on the air vents/controls. I have standard rear seats, no rear seat package (no heating, ventilation, massage).
