Smell of fuel
Hello all,
So recently my 2007 s550 with 173k miles has started to develop a problem which seems common this model. At first the smell of gasoline in the cabin was related a faulty purge valve in the engine I thought but since replacing it the valve I noticed the smell of gasoline is still there. I have searched on these forums and noticed that the charcoal canister could be the issue. I am DIY type of guy when it comes to a lot of stuff on this car and came across many videos on YouTube taking apart the canisters and replacing the internals of it. With that said I have ordered new activated charcoal and also foam to be used as the filter. Another issue that might be related to this the fact I can’t complete fill up my gas tank to “F”.

These were parts replaced less than 10k miles along with gaskets. The fact that my car isn’t allowing me to fill the gas tank all the way up leads me to believe that it has everything to do with the charcoal canister issue.
