Rim size W221

I have a 2010 S550 Awd and looking for some rims. I found 18x9.5 but believe that may rub the whee well as I believe the stock is 18x8.5. Any assistance is much appreciated

Depends on the weather
You will need 8.5 in the front and since it's 4matic, technically you'll need 8.5 on all 4 corners.

Thank you! As a seller told me a 9.5 would work...

8.5 in front (245-255) and 9.5 in the rear (275) for RWD are a tyre for W221

Thanks! As I thought the AWD required 8.5 for the front and for the back. I think the 9.5 in the rear would provide a nice look if it fits properly

Be careful with staggered wheels and tires on 4matic. MB does not offer staggered on original order for a reason, the 4matic control system likes its wheels the same size. May work and look great but unintended consequences could lurk.

Thanks! I was thinking the same thing and honestly did not want to go 8.5 in the front and 9.5 in the rear. The only reason I considered such because I am having a difficult time finding sellers who offer the 8.5 for front and back in the 5-star model rim (specifically on ebay)

Just FYI, my 2010 S550 4Matic has 19-inch wheels all around. Not saying you need 19, just that there is an option if you want a different look.

Also, not sure the different wheel width would make a difference for 4Matic. Others can comment on this.
You need to be careful about your tire width and aspect ratio for front to rear staggering.
You also need to make sure the wider wheel has the proper offset. Seeing as you are wanting to use factory rims, it should be OK.
Make sure you do the aspect ratio math and match rolling circumference front to rear to keep 4Matic happy.

Yes, the 19s look awesome on these w221s. I bought mine used with OEM AMG 19s and summer tires. Summer tires and icy roads do not mix. I bought a set of 18s OEM wheels and winter tires used to solve. Now I keep 4matic happy and have looks and performance matching the requirements aka seasons. Good luck and keep us posted.

i found some 18x8.5 with an offset of 35mm. My original factory rims are 19x8.5 w/43offset...Would the 18x8.5 with 35mm offset fit properly without affecting the air suspension or anything else?

here is what I’m interested in possibly purchasing and wondering if they fit properly ...

In the Details section of the sellers ad, it shows staggered wheels.
Aluminum wheels are prone to bending if potholes are involved. How are the roads where you drive?

35mm offset works fine. They will sit almost flush with the fender as the oem 43mm offset causes the wheel to sit more inward. Keep in mind, you are also going to need new lug nuts.

Thanks! I actually thought the 35 mm would sit more inward, I am still learning! Thanks you for the info on the lug nuts as well.

And this would not cause any issues with the suspension as far as control arms and importantly the Airmatic?

Correct. The offset just determines how far inward or outward the wheels sit.

Thanks! I was worried about the suspension being affected as it’s been difficult to find the same offset of 43 with a 18 inch rim.

Try fcpeuro, pretty sure I have seen lug bolts, not sure about spacers.
