2012 s550 4matic... changed the sensor twice thinking the sensor was bad and the hood open remains on the dashboard. Used genuine mercedes parts..what am I doing wrong..this part seems straight forward. I need the greater minds to lend a helping hand...thanks.

If I am following your post correct. The hood warning light on your cluster is coming up saying open, yes? The locking latch mechanism that the sensor is placed in could be faulty and not allowing it to close properly to allow the sensor to in engage. I would either lubricate the hood locking latch mechanism or replace it. This happened to me and I needed to replace the locking mechanism. I ended up replacing left/right locking mechanism, hood release cable, and the sensor. I bought this item locally but I want you to get idea what I was talking about as far as part
Ok great....because we've closed the mechanism with the hood up by using a screwdriver and see the contacts are touching but still says hood open...we wanted to see if the sensor was bad or the hood latch..still getting same result....also switched the driver side latch to the passenger side and same result.
Just did a scan and got this
