Hey guys I've suit the internet high and low and can't seem to find a solution to this.
WHen I turn the car on the screen starts green then it has a loading screen kind of like it's trying to do an update and then finally comes up with an error in Japanese.
using Google Translate it seems like it's trying to update the Map software even though there is no disc in any of the changers.
if I pull the hard drive then it will load with a green screen and eventually come up with system error.
I do have a Chinese DAS Star computer which cannot connect to the command system when it's showing this error.
every once in a while it will start as normal and I can connect to it fine but can't adjust anything in the navigation.
any thoughts for ideas that may point me in the right direction?
Jap spec Merc's have always used local mkt hardware for in car entertainment and are nothing like the rest of the world - we get questions now and then but there is no obvious info on what they really have, how it works or how to play as its all in the wrong language - and their industry likes to replace stuff on a 3 years cycle, so what is there is closer to folklore than a usable system you can get parts for - the next bit of fun is all the wiring is totally different
Sounds like either a dead HD or a map/software update that went wrong. If you have SDS, update the system software for Comand and the maps as well. Check if the HD works first though.
Yes I'm pretty confident that the map software is corrupt.
If the car sits a while (I have 7 cars) then the command will turn on fine but with out the map (says loading)
Then the next start is green screen and loading error again.
Can the map software be reinstalled somehow?
