2007 S550 New Owner Guide

Hi folks!
Follow up to my previous post about my journey to getting a W221, I've finally bought one.
It's a 2007 S550 with 150000km
Picking it up on Saturday when insurance kicks in.
What I'm interested in hearing about is ways to make it better
I've seen some Android/CarPlay things here and there but I dont wanna get into all that right now, I think I'll just get one of those Bluetooth 30-pin things. Thoughts?
What are some tips for interior cleaning? I will be doing it myself because I'm old school and I don't wanna pay through my teeth for detailing.
I'm just looking to hear about any fun little modifications I can make (definitely gonna be lurking around on the forums a lot more now) and any tips and tricks from existing owners

Finally, as I mentioned before, the w221 is significant to me for emotional reasons. I will probably own this car forever (unless it explodes or something) so I'm mentally prepared to face the issues as they arrive haha

Some photos

Congrats!

I know that the big upgrades (in-car entertainment, wheels, etc...) will have a big effect, but don't underestimate how fulfilling it is to have your car working 100% like it did the day it rolled off of the showroom floor. Luxury is luxury. A luxurious powerful car in 2007 is just as luxurious and powerful today.

My suggestions:
  • Get the oil and other fluids and filters changed.
    • Chances are, you don't know where the car is on its maintenance history. Also, when people get tired/bored with cars, they tend to slack off on maintenance.
  • Pull the codes with a decent code reader. Export the saved codes before you clear them (or simply take a pic/video of them) for reference.
    • This will let you know about any issues that may or may not still be around.
  • Fix everything that's broken.
    • It's unlikely that the car is perfect. There will probably be small things like a broken cup holder or interior bulb that's out.
  • Replace all of the missing screws, clips, etc...
    • Over the years, lazy/careless mechanics always forget to put stuff back.
  • Interior and exterior detail
    • Bonus points for paint correction and ceramic coating!

Congrats,
What a nice interior
You can just have a facelift bumpers, mirrors, headlamps , taillights and may be the wheels
Besides, 150.000 KM maintenance should be done whatever it involves ( engine mounts , tranny mounts as well )

You're lucky you have a dark interior. I have the Cashmere interior and I can see every new footprint on the floormats after I clean them. The world is a dirty place. Weathertech makes a fitted rubber floormat for our cars. They cost a bit less than original replacement floormats.

Take all the soundproofing off the underside of the car and check for rust on the petrol tank.

Checking for rust, I understand. But why are we taking off soundproofing?

The rust hides behind the soundproofing. It's easily removed.

Oh now I understand haha, you take the soundproofing off to access the tank. Thanks for the tip!
