Reduces Air Inlet Charge Temps
The term "liquid intercooling? with water/methanol injection refers to a highly atomised mist of water/methanol that is injected into the air stream and begins to evaporate. As it does, this evaporation effect reduces air charge temps by as much as 100 degrees, and delivers a more oxygen-rich air charge.
Reduces Detonation (Knock)
Water absorbs heat (6x more than fuel), and methanol is a cool burning, anti-knock rated fuel. When combined and introduced into the inlet stream, they can effectively increase your vehicle?s anti-knock index so you can reliably increase boost pressure and advance ignition timing using pump fuel.
Reduces Carbon Deposits
Modern vehicles fitted with Exhaust Gas Re circulation (EGR) devices for emissions control promote heavy carbon build up inside the air intake. This carbon build-up can create "hot spots" in the combustion chambers that can cause detonation. Water/methanol injection has a ?steam cleaning? effect that reduces this carbon build up, and in some cases can increase fuel economy.

read about it on a UK Merc forum - guy uses it to get any diesel tractor through its emission test... then you read about it and it works on petrol, diesel and even you old oil fired heating boiler at home !!!!
so I bought some with odd results - (remember octane numbers are counted differently in the ROW to USA counting)
on my father's E280CDI tractor it works brilliantly - much smoother and quieter and has pushed MPG up 4mpg, allegedly whilst also cleaning out all the rot you don't want
on her Focus 1.6 NA petrol at 163k miles, it was instantly like a different car - much happier, smoother, vastly improved throttle response, noticeably more power everywhere and MPG improved by about 3mpg
on my R1200GS bike on 99 super unleaded its seemed a bit happier and the end of the exhaust went from black soot to clean - note it should run 95 E0 but now we only get on 95 E10 and its a horrible mess on that rubbish
but then I discovered bigger benefits using it with lower octane 97 E5 unleaded and suddenly the bike loves life and seems even faster and much happier than the expensive high octane stuff (its much closer to how life was on old 98 octane petrol before they added the ethanol filth)
but disappointingly in the NA 5.5ltr W221 I'm not noticing ANY change at all ???
