Airmatic pressure

Yesterday while driving I get the Airmatic malfunction message. Was thinking about a leak in a spring or the level sensor linkage failure that Botus talks about, but when stopped for gas car seemed to be in normal riding height. Then when restarted the message went away.

At home iCarsoft read error from Airmatic and it says it took too long to reach the pressure. For the pressure it said over 36 bar, which for me sounds very high as I remember from my E550 it is around 6-9 bar.

iCarsoft also asks to check the pressure sensor.

Can anybody here tell what the pressure value should be?

the big orange 40 amp compressor fuse in the Front SAM can go pop, when the compressor has been working too hard.

when you fit a new pump, a silly fuel filter type air cleaner, a fuse and new relay should be fitted or the 2 years warranty from Merc is invalid

when my fuse popped, in diagnostics it said the compressor was "locked out"

check the fitting at the air reservoir tank under the driver side headlight too. I had a similar issue where my cl held normal ride height but the hose for the air reservoir was cracked in half..it’s situated in a position that seems like even a small pothole or bottom out could break it.

Hey Arrie, did you ever get to the bottom of what caused this in your case? It just happened to me again after 3 years, car is sitting at normal ride height. I haven’t had a chance to check the reservoir again yet but I’ll let you know

update: reservoir tank fitting/hose doesn’t seem to be the issue this time..will investigate further.

No, I have not had time ti dig into it. I was thinking to first get a new pressure sendor and if that foes not fix it then replace the compressor . Both are probably original parts so it mat just be time for them.

I was just waiting if someone could tell me what the pressure should run at about.
